DTL-H models. Usually known for the distinctive word "TEST" Wich is used to replace the "PS2" written on retail models casing (excluding the DTL-H10000S showcase unit, Wich still says "PS2")

They were a variant of the retail PS2 intended for quality assurance on an environment as similar as possible to the consumer hardware.

Contrary to what their Sticker indicates, these units are not capable on their own of performing any debugging task.

They could, however, be used for very limited debugging of the software running on the EE only via a special accessory known as TDB Start-up Card. Prior to DTL-H5xxxx, DTL-H models could only use the TDB Start-up Card I'd their model number 3rd Digit was 1. DTL-H10000 and DTL-H3x0xx could not use it because their built-in SECRMAN driver was the devkit stock version, Wich doesn't posses the card update authentication feature

differences[edit | edit source]

  • Different programming for MECHACON, DSP (and SysCon?)
  • Accepts backup discs if Appropriately master patched
  • Does not have DVD player ROM on the motherboard
  • Intentionally incompatible with DVD player soft (and DVD player software shuts down itself if model number in EEPROM Starts with DTL-H)
  • Has a different MagicGate keystore for memory card update auth
  • On DECKARD models. They have a "secret menu" triggered by a button combo at startup that allows changing the region for the system at will
  • On non DECKARD models, they're region free. Yet they still look for updates on region specific memory card folders like retail.
