RSX pages organization at june 2021[edit source]

A template with the pinout has been added in all the pages for the RSX models made at 90nm, 65nm, and 40nm. There was some other minor problems in them because was made in different ways, one was a redirect, others was 99% empty, others not created yet, etc... Also in many of them there was a line with the compete list of RSX models made in the same nanometers (i think this is redundant because appears at the page footer). Anyway, now all the RSX pages (except 28nm) shares the same style and are made in the same way. This update was mostly a cleanup of what we have, keep in mind that is good to have a dedicated page for each incase someone wants to go picky with the details of that specific RSX model, to add photos of it, etc..., from this point we can discuss if there are better ways to reorganize them but this would be an upgrade, not neccesarilly to do it now--Sandungas (talk) 18:43, 18 June 2021 (UTC)

RSX series missing[edit source]

In the transistion from RSX 40nm to 28nm sony removed the prefix "CX" and reduced the suffix "xxxx" (4 optional characters in chronological order: GB -> AGB -> BGB -> CGB, etc...) to "x" (only 1 character, in chronological order: A, B, C, etc...) in the name
It seems the real reason why sony shorted the name this way is because in the 28nm DIE there is not enought room to etch the complete name, compare the different styles and font sizes in between 40nm with 28nm
So we can consider the D5305x used in the latest superslims is a CXD5305xxxx and is following the same numerical sequence than the previous RSX series, the list we have is:

  • CXD2971xxxx
  • CXD2982xxxx
  • CXD2991xxxx
  • CXD5300xxxx
  • CXD5301xxxx
  • CXD5302xxxx
  • CXD5305xxxx

But this sequence indicates there is a mistery, because there are 2 series missing (5301 -> 5302 -> 5303 -> 5304 -> 5305), either is like this:

  • CXD2971xxxx
  • CXD2982xxxx
  • CXD2991xxxx
  • CXD5300xxxx
  • CXD5301xxxx
  • CXD5302xxxx
  • CXD5303xxxx <--- undocumented / prototype (41x41 pad layout, 4*64MB VRAM)
  • CXD5304xxxx <--- undocumented / prototype (41x41 pad layout, 4*64MB VRAM)
  • CXD5305xxxx

Or like this

  • CXD2971xxxx
  • CXD2982xxxx
  • CXD2991xxxx
  • CXD5300xxxx
  • CXD5301xxxx
  • CXD5302xxxx
  • CXD5303xxxx <--- undocumented / prototype (34x34 pad layout, 2*128MB VRAM)
  • CXD5304xxxx <--- undocumented / prototype (34x34 pad layout, 2*128MB VRAM)
  • CXD5305xxxx
