The SBL Kernel module handles Security & Cryptography. The kernel module checks PUP Updates, Executables, NPDRM (Retail) Packages and Debug Packages (the last 3 are handled by a part named Auth Manager). It also has a system interface for Playstation File System keys and an interface for the ZLIB hardware system (/dev/sce_zlib).
