Settings changes
Region Locking introduced, Sony Vaio laptops added to Remote Play devices
* [Bitstream (Direct)] and [Bitstream (Mix)] have been added as options under [Video Settings] → [BD Audio Output Format (Optical Digital)].
* VAIO PC is available as an option in Remote Play. (to be activated later)
 
Disc changes
* Fixed issues with certain region-free Blu-rays.
 
Network changes
* Trophy enhancements– Trophy viewing has been improved, with new categories that can be ascending or descending.
** Trophy Folder (Title List) can be sorted by game title according to the date when the last trophy was earned.
** Add-on list (Group list) can now also be sorted by the date when the last trophy was earned.
** Trophy list can be sorted by trophy name, grade (e.g. platinum), or date of obtaining the trophy.
** Hidden trophies are now labeled as "Hidden Trophy".
** Trophy Lists for each game no longer save the most recently viewed trophy.
 
System changes
* Preparation for 3D support in games.
* SDK Changes resulting in smaller RAM footprint for the PS3 operating system.
* The playback stability and upscaling of minis format software has been improved.
