Shortened and scratched instead of buying/switching/creating. Ugly but working.

<br />Alternatively... you can try to "peel" the plastic layer with a hot blade like "shaving" it
<br />After being removed couple of times from the boards /brutalized by previous owner/, this tiny cable can break easily. Try to find where it s broken by eye-spotting/ test pinching and cut (not randomly) the faulty part or reconnect properly the broken lines.  
<br />Bonus: this can be repeated several times until the ribbon cable is too short (if the first try goes wrong, cut and try again)
