Hi there, I just got my PS4 back from Sony service repair today (had blinking blue light issue), it boots fine now but it's stuck in Factory/Service mode. It deletes everything stored on it everytime I turn it off or restart, so that it boots up as if it's a new system.  It signs on as UserA and UserB everytime (I think they're for servicing purposes).

PS4 Factory Service Mode[edit source]

Example 1[edit source]

Hi there, I just got my PS4 back from Sony service repair today (had blinking blue light issue), it boots fine now but it's stuck in Factory/Service mode. It deletes everything stored on it everytime I turn it off or restart, so that it boots up as if it's a new system. It signs on as UserA and UserB everytime (I think they're for servicing purposes).

I tried live chat support as well as Sony, but nothing they suggested worked. They kept asking me to do another service request but I don't want to have to send it in again, and it seems like an easily fixable problem. I imagine the guys at the repair centre were just this using this "service mode" to test, and forgot to set it back.

Anyway, any help would be really apreciated. Like i said, I would prefer not to send it back and wait another couple weeks, its just frustrating to have to go through that process again. Here is what i have already tried:

  • Tried updating the software, but it said that 1.62 was the most recent
    • In Safe Mode: Restored Default Settings
    • In Safe Mode: Rebuilt Database
    • In Safe Mode and Regular Mode: Initialized PS4 (Tried quick and full, which took 2 hours)

Here's an image of what screen i get:
