Display resolution

NTSC

Standard 480i 60hz NTSC output.

PAL

Standard 576p 50hz PAL output.

Display errors

Errors on newer TVs

Newer TVs have errors displaying the PlayStation's output on some parts of the screen.

Errors on composite

If the PlayStation is connected to composite instead of AV, the display is in greyscale. This is because composite works like AV, but with red, green and blue inputs. Without the RGB inputs, the display is in greyscale, as mentioned earlier.
