This page lists display information for the PlayStation 1.

Display resolution[edit | edit source]

NTSC[edit | edit source]

Standard 480i 60hz NTSC output.

PAL[edit | edit source]

Standard 576p 50hz PAL output.

Display errors[edit | edit source]

Errors on newer TVs[edit | edit source]

Newer TVs have errors displaying the PlayStation's output on some parts of the screen.

Errors on composite[edit | edit source]

If the PlayStation is connected to component video instead of AV, the display is in greyscale. This is because component video works like AV, but with red, green and blue inputs. Without the RGB inputs, the display is in greyscale, as mentioned earlier.
