Sony's SKU-numbering is somewhat inconsistent, which makes giving a simple overview quite challenging.


Suffixes[edit | edit source]

  • R (e.g. SCPH-30004R)
    • Denotes a console that has a version of DVD Player preinstalled which supports the remote control out of the box (no DVD Player update necessary)
    • Only used on SCPH-3000X SKUs, since this is the only SKU/model number where there would be any ambiguity regarding out-of-the-box remote control support
    • This IS also denoted on the console model sticker itself
  • Color suffixes for standard (non-limited) color variations (Japan-only)
    • Only in japan, different color variants of the same SKU have different suffixes behind the model number, e.g. :
