The name of this page is misleading, the thermal monitors (or temperature monitors) are hardware components present in the PS3, see [{{SERVER}}/ps3/Thermal#Temperature_Monitors PS3 Thermal Monitors]<br>
Most probably the PS4 and the PS5 have a thermal monitor chip too (hint: should be located very close to the APU, and should have 2 traces connected to the diode inside the APU)
