This page covers kbooti.bin (Kernel Boot Init) which is nothing more than the PSP's IPL with an encrypted pre-IPL at the beginning.

UMD Leaks[edit | edit source]

Every now and then, kbooti.bin is accidentally included on a UMD game. This was more common prior to SDK 1.0.0 when kbooti was stored inside the kmodule folder. Developers would often copy the entire module folders to the game without thinking. Once 1.0.0 moved it into the bin folder though, few have leaked since. It should be noted that nearly all launch games were made before 1.00 and they simply copied over newer modules, but modules that didn't get replaced stayed the old version. Below is a list of games that have leaked them as well as the version leaked.

0.80 (0.8.0) (Link)[edit | edit source]

  • Bleach: Heat the Soul 5 (/PSP_GAME/USRDIR/data/module/kbooti.bin)

1.00 (1.0.0) (Link)[edit | edit source]

  • NBA Street Showdown (/PSP_GAME/USRDIR/prx/kmodule/kbooti.bin)

Trivia 1: NBA Street Showdown also uses SDK 1.0.0 modules. Along with Soukyuu no Fafner, they are the only two official PSP games to use pre-release version modules. All other launch titles and similar used 1.0.2 or later (1.0.2 and 1.0.3 are identical).

Trivia 2: This is the missing IPL to the leaked 1.00 "bogus" firmware from early 2005. The update did not include the IPL as Devkits load IPL remotely.

1.50 (1.5.0)[edit | edit source]

  • Melodie (Unreleased) (/PSP_GAME/USRDIR/kbooti.bin)
