in this repect, it would be interesting to see the performance of the Western Digital Black 2 WD1001x06xdtl which has 1TB of platter storage and 120GB of NAND SSD storage.

it is unsure if TRIM is enabled by default for UFS on the PS4, but on BSD in general it can be enabled with ''tune2fs -t enable'' : http://forums.freebsd.org/showthread.php?t=28004 see also : http://www.wonkity.com/~wblock/docs/html/ssd.html

PS4 System Storage Management - 500GB harddrive

SATA 2.5" with max height of 9.5mm, minimal storage size 160GB (145 HDD models and 291 SSD models comply to that). Ofcourse if you externalise the harddrive there is a whole world of 3.5" drives that are larger in storage size and also cheaper to be gotten.

SSD can be used, but it seems that on the PS4 there is even less incentive (compared to PS3) to replace the drive for a SSD, best price/performance are still 7200rpm drives.

in this repect, it would be interesting to see the performance of the Western Digital Black 2 WD1001x06xdtl which has 1TB of platter storage and 120GB of NAND SSD storage.

on the standard 500GB (465.8 GiB) harddrive, there is 408 GB useable for the user, thus 57,8 GB is reserved for the systemfiles/filesystem.

Replacing the harddrive

Replacing the drive does not void warranty and can be done this way:
