Front Cover from the Launch Title Killzone: Shadow Fall (US). The Spine Productcode is printed at the bottom left.

The Productcode, unofficially named DiscID or GameID, defines a numeric coding system for every physical product like applications and games pressed on discs and some bundles. It can be compared to a part/catalogue number or a ISBN number for a book. Sony used this system already for releasing their Game Titles on PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PSP and PS Vita. You can find these codes on several positions, printed in the spine from a game cover and on the top of the pressed Disc (physical Game Titles). The productcode may differ from the Title ID because the Title ID refers to the software and a same software can be included in different physical products, for example in limited edition bundles. Another example is Limited Run Games discs that have their own Productcode, different from the Title ID of the software they contain, sold on PS Store.

This page is concerned only with physical releases that have a productcode. For a more general list, see Title ID. See also IDs + labels and Game Titles.

Regional distinctions[edit | edit source]

Whilst Sony used various codes for different region areas in Japan, North America, Europe, Hong Kong and Asia for their Game Titles released on PlayStation, PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3, it seems that there are no regional distinctions on Game Titles released for the PlayStation 4 in general, but every Game Title use another code compared to the same Game Title released in another region. Also it seems that there are no distinctions on Game Titles released directly from Sony Computer Entertainment (First Party) or from Third party developers (Licensed).

Japan[edit | edit source]

Note: It seems that only those digital versions released in the PlayStation Store use the same layout as for the US / European versions, whilst the physical versions look similar to the old system with regional and license distinctions (as already used for the PlayStation, PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3). However, it seems that there is a more complicated coding system used on physical Game Titles released for the PlayStation 4, compared to the US / European releases.
